	Supplier Diversity
Marriott's commitment to global diversity encompasses every business unit worldwide. We have experienced the benefits that come from working with locally-owned businesses in the communities in which we operate. It's a win for the community and a win for business, yours and ours. And, we intend to do more. We have a goal to spend 15% with minority, women and LGBT suppliers by 2009. And we are definitely on track. Last year, we spent 13.6 percent or $478 million with diverse suppliers and we're always searching for qualified businesses to work with. Whether it's in our hotels or our second-tier vendor program, we want to find the best way to work together. We know how hard it can be for a small business with a good idea to find the right door to knock on. Marriott's Supplier Diversity Program was created to make it easier for us to find one another. 1. 	Qualification Criteria
We evaluate every company on the basis of meeting the following requirements. A company should: Be certified as a minority, women, disabled, or GLBT-owned business as defined below: A for-profit business enterprise which is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by United States citizens who belong to the following groups: Women African American Asian American Hispanic American Native American Disabled American Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, or Transgender American Have a minimum 3-year business history Meet or exceed our high standards of quality Provide excellent service Offer competitive pricing Provide value-added products or services Meet our insurance and indemnification requirements Be able to provide on-time deliveries Be Quality Assurance inspected by an approved third party if a food-manufacturer or distributor Hospitality references are a plus Realistically, we are not able to do business with every company that contacts us. But we welcome the opportunity to build strong, rewarding relationships with high-quality, diverse suppliers and service providers in our communities. Back to Top
