Jessica Miller and Daniel Klein are true Chicagoans. So, it wasn't a surprise to family and friends when Daniel chose this special place to propose. On a summer evening, before enjoying fireworks at the lake, Daniel got down on one knee and asked Jessica to spend the rest of her life with him. “He sort of led me to a quiet spot and asked to marry me; it was an incredible moment,” recalls Jessica.
When it came time to plan the wedding, they wanted a place that had Chicago written all over it. And, the Renaissance was the only choice. “The atmosphere and location were key. It had a great view of the river and when I saw the outdoor terrace, I knew it was the perfect place,” said Jessica.
As 320 family members and friends looked on, groomsmen carried and placed the chuppa at the front of the room. Jessica, draped in an exquisite Janelle Berté gown and escorted by her parents, walked down the aisle lined with calla lilies as Daniel
awaited. With a cantor singing traditional hymns and two rabbis leading the service, Jessica and Daniel stood under the beautiful canopy and became united as husband and wife. After the ceremony, the couple enjoyed a few quiet moments in their sitting room while guests mingled on the outdoor terrace and enjoyed champagne, baked brie in pastry puffs, vegetarian sushi rolls and smoked salmon on rye.
For their reception, Jessica and Daniel started with an endive and spinach salad followed by salmon served with chive mashed potatoes and fresh asparagus tips. “The food and service were excellent. We had a few people who needed kosher and vegetarian meals and the hotel staff was so prepared.” Luckily, guests left room for dessert, all specially created by Marriott pastry chefs. The elegant four-tiered wedding cake took center stage, beautifully adorned with pink ribbons and fresh flowers, filled with chocolate mousse and surrounded with butter cream icing. A sweets table complemented the cake and included mocha tortes, assorted mousses, and after-dinner cordials.
After hours of dancing, it was time for the couple to say goodnight. But, with so many guests staying at the Renaissance, Jessica and Daniel wound up socializing even more. The next day, the couple said goodbye to their parents and headed for their honeymoon retreat, where they stayed at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort in Hawaii. They had such an incredible vacation, but were thrilled to return to Chicago and start their new life as husband and wife. |
